Hampstead Bypass (R-3300) & u.s. 17 Improvements (U-5732) Projects

In 2018, the NCDOT began acquiring properties in the Hampstead area for the US 17 Superstreet Project (U-5732). This project, which runs from Washington Acres Road to Sloop Point Loop Road, will add medians and U-turns along US 17, while limiting through traffic from minor cross streets. Construction is slated to begin in the fall of 2020.

This project, in conjunction with the Hampstead Bypass, aims to ease traffic congestion in the area and improve safety.
